Description
What are rules for? To make our environment pleasant. The book opens the topic of setting rules in preschool. There are two ways to do this. One is the simple way: we write down the rules, and you, children, will nicely follow them. Usually, rules set this way do not work. The second way requires more effort and work, involves the children, but we can rejoice that the children adhere to them and even remind each other to follow them. Such rules then apply to everyone, both small and large. To be successful, we need the rules to be meaningful and also to clarify what each person in our class needs and what they expect from others. Also, that not all rules are the same. No one doubts that you don't cross on red, but how will we handle cleaning up toys in our class? Will the children perhaps (with our help) figure out how to make it pleasant for everyone in the classroom and not get lost in the mess? The author illustrates the topic with numerous examples from the practice of preschools.
