Description
The book by the experienced author duo complements their two very successful previous books, "Owls Don't Hoot" and "The Trials of the Tested Standa," and this time focuses on the difficult and often overlooked area of noun declension, which is covered in the 4th grade. The book consists of an exciting story with sci-fi elements, in which alongside children, extraterrestrials Fi and Flo appear. In each story, one model word is highlighted, which appears in all cases in the chapter. Children thus learn to identify the word with the model and reinforce its declension or understand the differences between similarly sounding forms (peacocks / peacocks). After each chapter, there is a table of the given model with commentary, tricky pairs, and notes on problems arising from the declension system. The book also includes a clear "model mill" for determining the models of individual words. Lenka Zemanová is a teacher and the author of the books "Madlenka and Glasses," "Owls Don't Hoot," and "The Trials of the Tested Standa." Michaela Bergmannová has illustrated several books for Portál, including "Speech Therapy Fairy Tales," "There's No Boredom in the Zoo," "In the Footsteps of Charles IV," and "In the Footsteps of Baroque in Bohemia."
