Description
This Czech-language book explains how people who practise inner prayer can bring their own lives before God, following the example and advice of Saint Teresa of Ávila. There are times when it is impossible to meditate on passages from Scripture because we are tired, troubled and anxious, or filled with joy about what has happened or what lies ahead. The book, which follows the author’s earlier works on inner prayer, shows how to understand one’s past, present and future prospects under God’s gaze, entrust one’s life to the Lord and recognise what leads towards union with God. It teaches readers to perceive their inner movements, reflect on events in their lives, interpret them in prayer and decide how to respond. It also encourages them to find a spiritual guide and explains the signs and principles of spiritual discernment. Pavel Vojtěch Kohut is a Discalced Carmelite, theologian, translator and author of spiritual literature. He lectured at Charles University’s Catholic Theological Faculty from 2002 to 2009, then served as a missionary in the Central African Republic from 2011 to 2017. He currently works in Arenzano, Italy, and translates the writings of Saint Teresa of Ávila and Saint John of the Cross.
