Description
This Czech-language parenting guide by Hans Rath and Edgar Rai is based on the simple but often underestimated fact that the strong childhood memories which shape us throughout life are often connected with seemingly ordinary events and experiences. Someone once gave us their time, and we never forgot it. In a relaxed tone, the two experienced fathers offer 88 personal tips and ideas for creating unforgettable experiences with children, often through seemingly banal everyday activities rather than special events. These experiences can help build a strong bond between parent and child and foster children’s sense of security, while reminding parents what it was like to be children themselves, what they longed for, and what they want to do differently with their own children. Suggestions include building something that floats, learning to lose with dignity, stealing cherries, arguing, improvising, saying goodbye, spreading fear and terror, playing a musical instrument, practising civil disobedience, inventing a secret language, reading together, dressing up, making a mess, talking about love, learning to appreciate luxury, listening to challenging music, waiting, writing letters, and saving the world. Hans Rath studied psychology, philosophy, and German studies, and is a successful author and screenwriter living in Berlin. Edgar Rai studied musicology and English studies and has worked as a screenwriter, basketball coach, choirmaster, craftsman, and online editor. He has been a freelance writer since 2001 and also lives in Berlin. The book has appeared in five editions.
