Objevování dítěte – Montessori Maria (2017)

Maria Montessori began her educational career working with children who suffered from mental disabilities. She achieved the remarkable feat of having these children pass reading and writing tests designed for children without disabilities. This inspired her to apply her method to the education of healthy children as well. This period is addressed in the book 'The Discovery of the Child,' which Maria Montessori wrote at the very beginning of her pedagogical research activities. The Montessori educational system is presented here as the result of the author's search and verification of the most suitable way to educate young children not only in schools and preschools but also within the family. It is based on understanding the needs of the young child, teaching them to develop their natural abilities and sensory perception. The book not only explains the scientific foundations of the author's approach but also introduces the methods and tools that support and guide the development of various talents (related to movement, perception, writing, reading, speech, counting, drawing, music, or religion). Education in this system is not understood merely as preparation for school but as preparation for life.
