Description
The novel by a well-known French writer explores the last period of Sigmund Freud's life in Vienna, where anti-Semitism is spreading under the influence of the Nazis. At a time when representatives of psychoanalysis are fleeing from German-occupied Austria out of fear for their lives, Freud remains. What secret keeps him in the city, where the impending catastrophe increasingly weighs upon him? The answer lies in the letters that Freud exchanged with physician Wilhelm Fliess from the late 1880s until 1902, which essentially serve as his intimate diary containing his thoughts, hypotheses, and experiences from psychoanalysis. Will Freud manage to track down the letters before the Nazis do?
