The author offers help to parents of siblings and shares her experiences as an educational and family counselor, as well as her experiences in raising her own children. Using numerous examples, she explores the issue of the development of relationships among children in the family from the preparation for the birth of the first sibling to their arrival in the world. She highlights the first relational problems and attempts at aggression from the first sibling. She advises on how to proceed, protect the younger one, and at the same time understand and support the older one. She provides advice on how to resolve relational problems and conflicts in the everyday lives of siblings, when and how to intervene, when not to, how to set boundaries, addresses conflict prevention, suggests games (including educational tricks), and shows parents how to navigate problematic situations in an emotional and non-confrontational communicative way. She explains how to avoid repeating the parenting mistakes of their own parents that may have affected their own sibling relationships in childhood and adulthood. She also addresses relationships in so-called newly formed families (in groups of siblings of divorced and newly remarried parents).
