Description
The presented work is the last book co-authored by Steve de Shazer, the creator of solution-focused brief therapy, and serves as a culmination of his therapeutic approach. De Shazer's approach and that of his collaborators developed in a very pragmatic way: in an effort to discover what truly works in therapy and helps clients, they sought to strip away everything else. They gradually abandoned diagnosis and problem analysis and created the concept of the so-called miracle question: 'Imagine that one night, while you are sleeping, a miracle happens – and all your problems are solved. How would you notice? What would be different? How would person XY find out about it without you mentioning it to them? Who would notice first? How would they know?' The book includes numerous examples of therapeutic work with clients. Shazer's approach and his techniques are now an integral part of systemic therapy and coaching in various modified forms. The book will be appreciated by psychotherapists, counseling professionals, coaches, managers, individuals striving for self-development (coaching can be done on oneself, unlike therapy), and students of psychology and psychotherapy.
