Description
Sándor Ferenczi's clinical diary consists of reflections from his psychoanalytic work with patients in 1932. The text, originally written in German and translated and organized by Michael Balint, Ferenczi's student, clearly ahead of its time, was set aside and only saw an English edition in 1988. Ferenczi was a student of Freud, having undergone psychoanalysis with him, which he considered inadequate and he vainly sought its completion. He also offered psychoanalysis to Freud, who declined. The clinical diary includes notes primarily concerning three significant areas – the theory of trauma, psychotherapeutic techniques, and the relationship with Freud. Sándor Ferenczi, through his approach and ideas, inspired relational psychoanalysis, the most dynamically developing contemporary school of psychoanalysis.
