An original comprehensive concept of family that combines biological and psychosocial facts. The developmental system of the family as a social womb is based on the contemporary systemic paradigm of narrative therapy. The main tool for depicting the family medium is the dialogue that both authors engage in. The family as a growing organism is thus viewed from the perspective of both a man and a woman, a doctor and a psychologist. This approach uncovers unexpected possibilities for viewing health and illness. A whole range of disorders and diseases is described here as a consequence of stagnating developmental oscillations of the entire family system. The authors also provide practical experiences with treatment possibilities, which cover a wide spectrum of diseases, but are best illustrated in the treatment of eating disorders. The authors' attitudes are provocative in some respects concerning the existing paradigm, which is increasingly oriented towards the individual. Although the authors integrate known facts, they open up new and revolutionary perspectives for the reader.
