Description
The book draws from the author's personal experience, who worked in palliative care for several years. Encounters with people for whom the perspective of imminent death urgently opened up painful personal topics and perhaps somewhat forgotten values transformed her own life as well. Conversations with the dying suggested several main directions of regret – I wish I had the courage to live truly according to myself, not according to the expectations of others, I wish I hadn't worked so much, I wish I had the courage to express my feelings, I wish I had maintained relationships with my friends, I wish I had allowed myself to be happier... The stories of people saying goodbye to life intertwine with the author's personal story, seeking a positive meaning in fully experiencing the present while being fully aware of one's own finiteness.
