Description
The representative monograph of the significant Czech glass artist, painter, and educator Vladimír Kopecký is published on the occasion of the author's retrospective exhibition of the same name at the Museum Kampa (April 24 - September 7, 2014), which is one of the key events of the exhibition season at the Sovovy mlýny. The publication focuses primarily on Kopecký's painting work from the early 1960s to the present. Additionally, the book presents the author's unique realizations in architecture, which have been newly mapped by the author of the monograph, Martin Dostál, and photographed by Martin Polák. As the title of the book suggests, the central theme of both the book and the exhibition is the tension between expressive color and strict geometry, which accompanies Kopecký throughout his work. In the accompanying text, the author of the monograph focuses on both the biographical circumstances of Kopecký's creative development and the historical and social context in which his works were created. The book also contains a collection of Kopecký's short texts on art and an interview with Petr Volf. This bilingual, English-Czech publication is a reference work for all students and lovers of this prominent figure in contemporary Czech art.
