Description
Contemporary Western society swears by the neoliberal economic model, which proclaims the so-called free market as an unquestionable dogma - after all, even in the Czech Republic, the 'invisible hand of the market' was once an untouchable deity. Ha-Joon Chang, who (perhaps due to his background) can view the capitalist economy of the Western kind somewhat from the outside, essentially articulates, describes, and justifies only what many have begun to perceive in recent decades: that the free market economy, despite all proclamations and theoretical justifications, fails in many respects. He critically analyzes the free market economy from many angles and vividly demonstrates its shortcomings. However, he does not advocate for the establishment of some opposing socialist model but recommends a number of measures that could improve the current model for the benefit of all.
