Description
This Czech-language book presents, for the first time in such breadth, the remarkable diversity of mushrooms in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It features more than 1,000 species from all groups, including 100 species, forms and varieties of boletes and more than 60 species of milkcaps, brittlegills and knight’s mushrooms. Many of the species are presented and illustrated in a book for the first time. The photographs are made to show the maximum number of identifying features. Each species is described briefly and clearly, with information about its basic microscopic characteristics and possible confusion with similar species. Each illustration also includes a note on where and by whom the species was found and photographed, together with brief information about the locality and its ecology. The introductory section contains chapters on mushroom anatomy, ecology, systematics and conservation, basic information about mushroom processing, contacts for mycological advice centres, and links to interesting websites. The book is intended for the general public and, thanks to its practical format, is suitable for mushroom gatherers who want to learn to identify new species in the field. It is also useful for amateur and professional mycologists and others interested in more detailed study, serving as a practical aid for further mycological research.
