Description

Leoš Šimánek has visited Hawaii several times on his travels. This time, however, he made plenty of time for this archipelago. With his wife, son, and daughter, they thoroughly explored all six main islands, not only in summer but also in winter. With backpacks on their backs, they ventured into little-known areas, places that an average tourist spending only a few weeks on vacation in Hawaii would find hard to reach. The Šimánek family was captivated by the beautiful bays lined with coconut palms and the azure blue or turquoise green waters, beaches with sand of all possible colors – from dazzling white, golden yellow, brick red, or greenish to black as coal. They traveled along the coast with steep mountains covered in lush vegetation, valleys where countless waterfalls tumble down to the mouths of rivers and streams, where high waves crash against coastal cliffs. However, the Hawaiian islands are not only interesting around the sea. They have gigantic canyons and high rock cliffs, they have volcanoes rising from immense depths to more than four thousand meters high, they have both dormant and extremely active craters spewing hot magma that only recently flowed in streams into the ocean waters. Leoš, Lenka, Jakub, and Veronika did not only engage in hiking.
