Description
This novel, in Czech, follows Tempesta, who feels neglected by her American family after her mother’s early death and becomes lost in memories. As an adult, she travels to Provence and buys a dilapidated estate in Sainte-Colombe, the small town where her mother grew up. Winning over the locals proves difficult, especially because the mayor treats her with hatred and considers her a witch. Tempesta does not give up, however, and gradually makes friends while uncovering her mother’s secret. Together with her efforts to revive Sainte-Colombe, this discovery helps her break through the barriers between herself and the townspeople. For the first time, she learns the value of community, friendship and mutual trust. In her mother’s hometown, she finds love and a home, discovering magic and unexpected beauty in nature and everyday life.
