Description
It is said that children choose the families they are born into. Dan is not so sure about that. Or perhaps he had a much darker sense of humor as an embryo than the fate that awaited him. He was born into a family where the funeral business has been passed down for several generations, in a picturesque town in the Czech Paradise, in Sobotka. Dan was meant to be the fifth generation to take over the family funeral company. How does one create their own sanctuary in such a harsh environment, a space where they feel safe? Can opportunities be sought even where there are outward obstacles? Through a journey into his own family history, Dan explores whether the obstacles awaken in him talents that would have remained dormant forever under better circumstances. What makes us who we are? An autobiographical narrative about his journey from the funeral service to pursuing his dream, about the right to live one's own life despite family tradition, and last but not least, about the strong bond between parents and children that will not only move you but also amuse you.
