Description
The author of the successful book Return of the Unwanted now follows the fate of a Czech family from 1984 to 1990. Mother Renata does not return from a trip to Austria, without her husband Richard, daughter Simona, and son Marek knowing about her emigration. The whole family's life is turned upside down. They find themselves in the sights of the StB – Richard is harassed by security and reassigned to a worse position, Simona struggles with her mother's departure, neglects her studies, and ultimately is not accepted into the clothing industry school she longed for, while Marek, studying medicine at Charles University, is expelled from school and must join the army. Each copes with the loss of Renata in their own way, with Marek faring the worst, as he signs a collaboration with the StB for personal gain at the end of the war. In 1990, Renata arrives in Prague. What will her reunion with her former husband and children be like?
