Description
While Charles IV constantly hopes that Anna of Swidnica will give him the long-desired heir, the commander of his personal protective squad, Charles Rozoumek, is preparing to resign from his position at the imperial court. His wife Barborka has mysteriously disappeared along with their child near Křivoklát, where she grew up since childhood, and he hopes to find out what happened to her. The search is taken up by Matouš Rozoumek, who wants his son to maintain his exceptional place alongside the Luxembourgers. But Emperor Charles IV also has worries; he would like to bequeath not only a prosperous Bohemia to his future son but also a strong Holy Roman Empire. However, he faces resistance from the nobility, pursuing their own power goals. His brother Václav, ruling in Luxembourg, also struggles to assert his claims to the "cursed heritage" of Brabant. Here, Charles IV encounters strong opposition from cities thriving on international trade and the developing textile industry for the first time.
