Description
Emerald lives with her parents and younger sister Abigail a privileged life in the grand Astley House. However, one day their father disappears, and the family finds themselves in enormous debt. The girls, along with their mother, are forced to seek refuge with Emerald's uncle, who reluctantly allows them to stay on his farm. In a desperate attempt to find work, Emerald leaves the countryside and heads to London to become a companion to a distant relative. The rebellious Abigail refuses to lower herself to menial tasks on the farm. She also runs away to the city but soon finds herself in trouble. Will the girls manage to find their lost happiness and bring the family back together?
