In this story set in medieval England, we once again meet Grace and Simon de Wallrey, whom we got to know in the historical detective novel The Seventh Sin is Punished by Death. Near the Godstow monastery, located close to the Wallrey estate, a murder has been committed, and another one is not long in coming. The death of a charming court lady and royal advisor is far from the last crime. Grace, who serves in the royal court, takes on the investigation and soon uncovers a web of vile intrigues aimed at the king. Will she be able to untangle them before another murder occurs?
