Description
The Mellern concentration camp serves as a dumping ground for prisoners – predominantly Jews who, due to physical weakness, are no longer able to work. In inhumane conditions, filth, and hunger, under the supervision of ruthless fascist executioners, twelve 'veterans' are 'surviving' here at the end of the war, surrounded by a number of newly arrived destitute skeletons. Almost all have lost their personality, past, and individual human traits; their diminished humanity is reduced to basic animal needs. They have become mere prison numbers with concentration camp mimicry. Nevertheless, among them are those who have managed to preserve their 'self'...
