Description
This Czech-language novel begins at a New York airport, where two planes are preparing to fly to San Francisco. At the security checkpoint, agent Bernice Adams finds a postcard showing the Golden Gate Bridge with an ambiguous, even threatening, message. Ben Waterman takes charge of the investigation and eventually focuses on an A321 piloted by Helen Smith. Among the passengers are a film star, a pilot ending a forty-year career, and an agitated father travelling with the young son he abducted from his former wife. Ben suspects that someone aboard Helen’s plane is planning something terrible, and he is right. Under the pressure of events, the passengers, crew, and experts are unwillingly transformed into heroes trying to prevent a tragedy.
