Description
In his new short stories, our most popular writer once again ventures into the familiar realm of tales 'about marriage and sex,' but as is typical in his recent works, the perspective is bitter, self-ironic, and occasionally pitch-black humorous. The writer's alter ego loses his wife, money, family background, and in one case even a dog, but he counts his losses with a melancholic calm. The snippets of life, where love once flourished long ago, are now irretrievably gone; the author captures this with a sad cynicism that sometimes poses as heroism but reveals fatigue and disillusionment. The harsh clash with reality takes many forms here, but carries a similar message – namely that what ultimately remains is just oneself, and to those who betray even themselves, nothing will be left in the end.
