Description
When seventy-year-old Franziska visits the former family estate of Dranitz in East Germany, where she grew up, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, she is determined to stay here permanently. During the tumultuous times of World War II, her family had to leave the rural estate on the orders of the Soviet occupation authorities. However, the longing for home never left Franziska. Together with her granddaughter Jenny, she tries to restore the ancient country estate to its former glory. In the process, memories of her carefree childhood, the loss of her parents and siblings, and her first great love, Walter Iversen, whom the war took from her, resurface. When she suddenly learns that Walter is alive, she begins to unravel a story that many would prefer to leave sleeping...
