Aortic regurgitation is one of the basic heart valve defects and is closely associated with the occurrence of dilatation of the ascending aorta. Only in recent years has traditional surgical treatment with valve replacement been enriched by a systematically developed strategy for valve-sparing reconstruction. The monograph by authors from the Cardiac Surgery Clinic in Hradec Králové, with the participation of an international team of co-authors, provides a comprehensive picture of this heart defect.
