Description
For a perfect massage, not only skill but also correct procedures and sensitive perception of feelings are important. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the seven basic groups of massage techniques in classical massage. Classical (therapeutic) massage is performed on both sick and healthy individuals. Unlike sports massage, which is provided to healthy people for the purpose of body regeneration, therapeutic massage is gentler and more careful, focusing on specific health problems of the individual. Classical massage consists of a series of massage techniques that are repeated several times in a precisely defined order while adhering to the direction of the techniques. The direction of the techniques influences the correct effect of the massage, which is performed in the direction of venous blood flow, that is, towards the heart. An important factor in the effectiveness of the massage is also its length and the duration of individual massage techniques. Older, or sensitive individuals or children are recommended to be massaged for a shorter time initially, gradually increasing the duration. A complete massage is prescribed by a doctor and is recommended to be performed twice a week. This book can be used by students of universities and secondary schools, participants in retraining courses focused on health massage, healthcare massage therapists, physiotherapists, as well as sports massage therapists and the general public.
