Description

At the time when the Czech motorcycle factory Jawa was experiencing its peak in production, economy, and exports, it produced motorcycle models that became popularly known as Jawa 'kývačka'. Two-stroke, air-cooled engines of four or five displacement classes were mounted onto a universal chassis characterized by the assembly of a rear swingarm. These motorcycles, produced since 1954, achieved extraordinary popularity due to their modern design, which featured pleasant handling and appreciated riding comfort, becoming the most widespread vehicle on the then Czechoslovak roads. The book 'Jawa kývačka' thus provides a comprehensive chronology of this motorcycle, from the intermediate types of the national model series through the national model series and other types 559, up to type 361, which was the last before the modernized series of the Jawa Californian type. The Jawa kývačka broke production records: it surpassed the million mark in produced motorcycles, and 10,000 units were exported to more than 120 countries worldwide. Its production lasted nearly two decades, and this year we commemorate sixty years since its launch.
