Ventilated and double facades are a significant revitalization of the architectural expression of important civic and administrative buildings. They are characterized by a high variability of visible materials, which are applied in color, texture, and detail processing. ***** The publication provides an overview of characteristic products for the facing layer of these envelopes, considering their aesthetic properties, usual dimensions, and color execution. Individual types of materials are presented through examples of contemporary, architecturally interesting, and realized buildings. At the same time, technical solutions for anchoring details and the arrangement of functional layers are analyzed concerning the used facing materials. ***** Attention is given to the significance and function of the ventilated air gap, its proper design, and the overall building-physical parameters of these envelopes concerning the energy demands of buildings and the reliability of their function over time.
