Strašidýlko Josífek – Melounová Ivanka (2010)

Josífek is a 'normal' little ghost boy. He possesses a mysterious all-powerful Kukadíčko, which helps him overcome many obstacles. Thanks to Josífek, children find themselves in a half-ruined castle, explore the dreadful basement of the witch Ádi's house, rescue the fairy Kristýnka, befriend the eternally pushed-away little devil Kuba, and experience 'terrifying' adventures that always end well. The light-hearted illustrations by Veronika Kubáčová, based on perfectly executed drawings combined with watercolor, evoke joy, humor, and fairy-tale magic, and together with the text suitable for beginning readers, they will surely delight not only first graders but also their parents and educators.
