Description
The war that the Russian army, supported by part of society, has waged against Ukraine since 2014 has radically transformed Ukraine, Europe, the world, and Russia itself, not only militarily, politically, and economically but also culturally. How do artists in the region respond to the war, and how do their works undermine, document, celebrate, or ignore it? How does the war intervene in and transform the means of artistic expression? Which developments in culture, cultural policy, and public space appear essential during wartime, where do they come from, how do they manifest themselves, and where are they heading? What does the so-called Russian exile mean and produce? What strategies are chosen by cultural institutions and the Kremlin establishment? Ten chapters seek answers to these and many other questions in a collection of facts and reflections on war and culture, written during the war. The book is in Czech.
