Description
Did the Knights Templar really disappear, along with their famous treasure? Did the curse pronounced by the order’s last grand master at the stake come true? Were the Templars forerunners of the Freemasons? Traces of the Templars and the battles they fought in the Holy Land alongside the Crusaders can be found as far back as the First Crusade, yet the order’s origins are as mysterious as its downfall. Xavier Hélary guides readers through the history of the Knights Templar, from the era of their true medieval power, secured in particular by the protection of the pope, to the false accusations spread by King Philip the Fair of France to bring about the order’s collapse. Hélary also seeks to separate fact from fiction and clarify the legends surrounding the order, which cinema and literature regularly bring back to life. The book is in Czech.
