The history of the Cistercian monastery in northern Bohemia's Osek began over eight hundred years ago. The first part of the book presents the history of the monastery from its earliest days to the present, placing it in the context of the spiritual direction of the Cistercian order. The second part, conceived as a walk through the monastery grounds, focuses on its artistic decoration. Special attention is given to the iconography of the paintings and sculptures adorning the spaces of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The rich artistic collections of the monastery, its library, and remarkable gardens are also not overlooked.
