Description
Scouting, as a global movement, has its roots in the early 20th century. The book follows the first steps of scouting groups in the Czech lands, the development of their programs, as well as the conflicts and challenges that individual movements faced in their early days. The author also maps out German and Jewish organizations, Catholic scouting, and those of national minorities. He describes the similarities and differences between Czech and German youth movements and does not overlook how these organizations served political struggles.
