This book explores the history of sociological thought while considering the changes modern society is undergoing today. Jan Keller draws an analogy between the crisis of traditional society, from which modernity emerged, and the current crisis of organized modernity, whose arrival was captured from various perspectives in the theories of the classical sociologists. The book explains the basic categories of sociological thought developed by roughly ten leading sociologists of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, while also seeking to connect this intellectual tradition theoretically with the most pressing problems of the present day. Keller concludes that many elements of the sociological tradition can help us understand the contemporary transformations of modernity. The contents are in Czech.
