This Czech-language second, updated and expanded edition presents both fundamental and the latest knowledge from clinical neuropsychology and clinical psychology. The book is divided into two parts. The general section covers neuroanatomy of the central nervous system, brain imaging methods, basic cognitive functions and the diagnosis of disorders in these areas, supplemented by a contribution on research methodology and the statistical processing of neuropsychological data. The considerably larger special section contains several parts devoted to neuropsychological diagnosis in neurological and psychiatric disorders, rehabilitation of cognitive functions in these conditions and possible neuropsychotherapeutic approaches. It also addresses other areas of applied neuropsychology, including childhood, military neuropsychology, terrorism and forensic neuropsychology. Experimental and neuroscientific topics are included as well, such as the importance of sleep for memory, digital technologies in neuropsychological practice, fear of snakes and other unwelcome animals, and the neuropsychology of lying.
