Description
The publication follows the History of Ethical Theories from Kant to Pragmatism (2020) and, together with the History of Ethical Theories I (from Antiquity to the End of the 18th Century) (2004), captures the development of European ethical thought from ancient Greece to the end of the 20th century. The content of the book consists of the ethical systems of the following authors: Bergson, Buber, Camus, Dilthey, Gadamer, Heidegger, Jaspers, Jonas, Lévinas, Lipovetsky, MacIntyre, Marcel, Sartre, Scheler, Spaemann, and Tugendhat. The selection takes into account the need to understand the typical forms of ethics in the 20th century – including connections to the preceding century and in light of possible directions in the following century. It will enable the reader not only to gain basic knowledge of the history of ethics but also to integrate ethics into the development of philosophy and generally culture in the European space.
