This monograph is the first work on an international level that reveals the basic outlines of the dramatic beginnings of the promotion of the evolutionary paradigm of the origin-creation of man within the Catholic Church. We encounter a few brave advocates of evolution as early as the 1870s, but it is the 1990s that become pivotal, when, despite the attitudes of the Vatican center, a number of respectable pioneers of a new view on the creation of man emerge in several Western countries and in our homeland. After 1910, Catholic proponents of the theistic interpretation of the evolutionary origin of humanity represented a significant and increasingly growing opinion group, and the Vatican began to open up to the new paradigm only in the early second half of the last century. The book should spark interest not only among theologians but also among experts in the history of science and anyone fascinated by the origin of humanity and the history of paleoanthropology.
