Most of the Czech population has encountered cottage ownership directly or indirectly. Spending leisure time in so-called second homes is considered a natural part of the lifestyle, especially for urban residents. Petra Schindler-Wisten's book presents the development of this phenomenon from an anthropological-historical perspective, attempting to clarify its influence on the daily lives of citizens in Czechoslovakia before 1989 and its transformation in the following decades.
