Description
The collective monograph is the result of the research work of the author team from the Department of Social Work at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts. It responds to the general belief that the quality of life for seniors is positively influenced by activity in old age. It examines whether and how the current social policy of the government, civil society, and existing social service systems actually support the activities and independence of the aging population. Based on analyses, the authors have reached several critical conclusions and also present suggestions for improvement. At the same time, they point out that social services and social work will have to address new social challenges in the 21st century, triggered not only by demographic phenomena but also by digitalization, globalization, and modern migrations. They warn that our social systems are not prepared for this.
