Description
French philosopher and essayist Olivier Mongin presents a structured discussion of what the city or urban space means today, in the era of globalisation. Rather than an interdisciplinary encyclopaedia, the book offers a framework for bringing together the different fields connected with the subject, including literature, history, architecture and the social sciences. Its aim is to allow the city to become a general concept again: the polis, an object of politics in the broadest sense, representing what citizens share, rather than merely a term with unrelated meanings in different areas of expertise.
