Description
Eduard Bass’s now-classic 1922 novella tells the story of Klapzuba, a father who trains his eleven sons to become a phenomenal football team. A foundational work of Czech humorous prose, it can be read as a celebration of fair play, perseverance and sporting enthusiasm, as well as a lightly ironic reflection on the contemporary fascination with Czech football and events in post-war society. The book has become popular with young and adult readers alike and has appeared in more than 30 editions. This Czech-language edition features a new graphic design by Zdeněk Ziegler and vivid colour illustrations by Jiří Grus.
