Description
The monograph discusses Islamic culture within the framework of Euro-Mediterranean multicultural dialogue, taking into account the situation in the Czech Republic. After a methodological and theoretical analysis of the concepts of "the end of history" by Francis Fukuyama and "the clash of civilizations" by Samuel Huntington, the author addresses, for example, the change in Europe's approach to the Islamic world after the end of the "Turkish danger," the Muslim community in Europe, and also the Barcelona Process, which culminated in the establishment of the Union for the Mediterranean in 2010. The analysis of the Arab and Muslim community in the Czech Republic is based on personal interviews with its members, and attention is also paid to the history of the Czech-Arab Society and the establishment and activities of the Czech-Arab Chamber of Commerce. Given the relevance of the issue of Islam in Europe, the monograph is intended not only for experts but also for a broader audience.
