Description
This Czech-language volume presents an approach to Czech syntax based on material from contemporary Czech, as provided by grammatically annotated material from Czech computer corpora. Its authors contributed to the construction of the Prague Dependency Treebank and work within a unified theoretical concept of dependency description based on the notion of valency. Seven chapters analyse and richly illustrate with corpus material the fundamental questions of the semantic structure of the Czech sentence, including types of dependency relations, the boundary between valency and non-valency complements, the interaction of morphology and syntax, coordinate and elliptical constructions, the nature of infinitive constructions, and word order in relation to information structure.
