Orc warrior Viv is on her first big expedition. Rakem's Ravens are the best in the field, necromancer Varina poses a serious challenge, and she herself is full of strength and determination to show how to wield a saber properly. But youth doesn't always prevail. Especially when you're up against a horde of skeletons. And so Viv suddenly finds herself in Šerák, a small seaside town where maybe no one dies, but it's definitely on the brink. Rakem and his Ravens left her here to heal her severely injured leg while they continued on towards their fate. For an orc warrior, that's something terrible! But then Viv, during her wanderings around the area, stumbles upon a dusty bookstore run by a rat-catcher named Ferna. And she recommends a book to her. To her own surprise, Viv succumbs to reading and decides to do something to save the shop from bankruptcy. Together with a handful of newly acquired friends, she will face dust, sales promotions, elven noble authors of adventure romances... and eventually even that necromancer Varina. Because clearly, you can chop up someone's army of the undead, but you don't mess with books. Especially when that book is a grimoire of the darkest magic...
