The Colloredo and Mansfeld families are among the oldest noble families in Europe. Since the 17th century, their story has increasingly been inscribed into the history of the Czech lands. Their union occurred in the 1770s, and since 1789 the family has been known as the Colloredo-Mansfelds. They were among the leading and wealthiest aristocratic families of the Habsburg monarchy. Many of its members distinguished themselves on the battlefield, in diplomacy, politics, and the church. The book also presents the most important family residences in the Czech Republic and abroad.
