Presidential pardons have always caused small earthquakes in public opinion, regardless of who the president was. In my life as a reporter, I have encountered numerous cases where I am still unsure whether I would grant a pardon or not if I were president. Sometimes the guilt is clear, but unexpectedly it is called into question by unforeseen circumstances. Other times, I have doubted who is guilty and who is the victim from the start, even though the verdict made it clear. And sometimes I have come across a story so bizarre that nothing was clear. That is precisely why this book gradually came into being, where I have played a bit authorially with those unclear and strange stories. Sometimes it involves murder, other times a bomb full of feces, or a child who lies out of fear of punishment and ruins an innocent person's life. And at other times, it involves mushrooms.
