Over a hundred years have passed since three generational spaceships departed from Earth, controlled by artificial intelligence, in search of new life on a distant planet orbiting Tau Ceti. Now, the Day of Turnaround approaches, when the vessels will initiate their braking maneuver and the long-awaited descent to their dream home. Ravi McLeaod hails from the lower decks of the ship Archimedes and, after completing officer training, is set to become the first representative of his family to ascend the social hierarchy of the interstellar vessel. However, during a routine technical inspection, Ravi witnesses an inexplicable scene: a young woman floats in the vacuum of space without a spacesuit, smiling at him. Yet no one else can see her. As the girl appears more frequently in his visions, Ravi faces a crucial choice: either secure his family's place among the elite members of the Archimedes crew or jeopardize everything by attempting to unravel the mystery of the floating young woman. With the help of his cousin Boz and her illegally constructed AI device, Ravi must uncover the source of the strange apparitions and reveal the truth about his ship's departure from Earth before the Day of Turnaround changes everything they have learned about life so far.
