Description
A detective novel in Czech begins when a statue of a woman appears one night among apartment blocks on the outskirts of a city. It glows in the darkness, with bottles of alcohol arranged around it as though for an exhibition. The woman turns out to be an art professor who has been murdered and stylised by the killer as a work of art. The evidence clearly points to a student accused of taking a deranged revenge for failing his state examination. “I didn’t kill anyone,” the desperate student insists. Yet everything fits him perfectly, almost too perfectly, and that is what troubles detective Daniel Kraft.
