Description
During the reign of John of Luxembourg, a wealthy merchant and owner of the Kutná Hora mines, Walram of Weisburg, also known as the Silver Prince, is treacherously murdered in his own house, U Dvou růží, in Prague. His younger brother and legal heir, Eberhard, arrives from Nuremberg and, after being advised by the royal steward Heinrich of Lipá, turns to the royal judge Melichar of Roupov to catch Walram's killer. However, shortly thereafter, Eberhard himself is mysteriously killed. Meanwhile, Melichar learns about the mysterious curse of the house U Dvou růží, which allegedly dates back to the grandfather of both brothers. He refuses to believe in such a curse and gets on the trail of the double murderer, even as he finds himself in danger of losing his life. Fortunately, he is helped by his assistant Božetěch, whose frequent escapades surprisingly pay off this time.
